Hello friends. It has been a long time since I have been around these parts. I needed a break. A break from blogging, a break from reading blogs, a break from work, a break from fertility treatments, a break from telling my story, from life, from Chicago. From everything basically. And now I am back and refreshed and rejuvenated.
Our frozen embryo transfer did not work. I had a feeling it didn't work after a few days, and it was confirmed right before we left for Florida for vacation. At least when it doesn't work you are allowed to drink and have all the fun you stopped yourself from having while you were undergoing treatments. So we had fun in Florida, some drinks and some sun, and eating bad things. We played in the 80 degree waters of the Gulf and watched many sunsets. It was glorious.
Also, right before we left for Florida we got official word that we will be leaving our beautiful Chicago and moving to New York/Connecticut for my Kevin's job. We are so excited, and it has come at a perfect time. We are excited for a fresh start.
With that news, we have decided that we are done with fertility treatments. I still have 3 frozen embryos left, and they will remain that way for the time being. After 5 fresh IVF cycles, and 3 frozen cycles, it's time to get off this train. And I couldn't be happier. Yes, I wish it had worked, but I was starting to not even get excited if it did work. I think I just needed a break from it all. So we are moving on full steam ahead with adoption. We going to do domestic and hopefully one day in the not so distant future bring home a newborn. I've already found an agency in Connecticut that is already very responsive and has even offered to help with anything we might need to know about the area. But holy hell, this paperwork might be the death of me, but it's better than sticking a 2 inch needle in my ass any day :)
As we are saying good-bye to Chicago, we are saying good-bye to birthing our own child. But with each good-bye, means a chance for growth and renewal. As we are saying good-bye, we are also saying hello to that much more.
